Tragedy struck at a Honolulu cruise ship terminal when a shuttle bus collided with pedestrians and concrete barriers, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. The incident was attributed to a grave error by the shuttle bus driver, who mistakenly pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake, as reported by Honolulu police.
The driver had just finished dropping off passengers at Pier 2 when onlookers noticed the bus beginning to move forward. Reacting swiftly, the driver attempted to regain control of the vehicle but inadvertently accelerated, exacerbating the situation.
Regrettably, a 68-year-old woman lost her life in the collision. Emergency responders rushed four individuals in their 50s and 60s to the hospital in serious condition, while a man in his 70s was also hospitalized but in stable condition. Additionally, six other individuals received medical attention on-site and declined further transportation to the hospital.
Authorities have ruled out speed as a contributing factor to the crash, although investigations are ongoing to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the tragic incident. The community is left mourning the loss of life and hoping for the swift recovery of those injured in the shuttle bus accident at the Honolulu cruise ship terminal.
