Authorities in Hungary are currently dealing with a tragic incident on the Danube River, where two individuals have lost their lives and five others are currently missing following a boat collision.
The Hungarian police were alerted to the situation late Saturday night when a man was discovered with head injuries on the shore of the Danube near Veroce, approximately 30 miles north of Budapest. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the man had been involved in a boating accident. Subsequently, the bodies of a man and a woman were found in close proximity to the scene.
Efforts are currently underway to locate the five individuals who remain unaccounted for from the boat.
Authorities have identified a hotel boat that was in the vicinity at the time of the collision. The damaged hull of the hotel boat was later intercepted near Komarom, which is over 50 miles further upriver from the initial incident location.
Law enforcement officials have taken action by initiating criminal proceedings against an unknown individual suspected of endangering water transport and being responsible for the tragic deaths of multiple individuals.
