The Chestergate in Stockport is rapidly becoming a worldwide online sensation, after word got out about its riotous mid-week karaoke sessions. Video from the Tuesday night sesh started heavily circulating yesterday, and has now reached its way around the globe.

Rebecca Elsworth said: “I live in Barnsley and I’m considering booking an hotel to come to your pub. Looks a reight nite art.” Those from even further afield are considering heading down to the colourful boozer on Mersey Square too.

“I am living in Los Angeles California and I love you guys..... I must go one day,” said Lolly Franco. Others residing in far flung spots from Kent to Merthyr Tydfil to Northern Ireland have also pledged to head to the pub soon for a night out.

The pub has been bowled over by the attention, with its Facebook post featuring the fateful video ‘Oooh it's Tuesday choose your own Tuesday’, which was actually posted in late September, having now reached more than a million people. It features a host of the pub’s regulars, including Dennis, the gentleman pulling up his top to reveal his belly.

Manager Steph Armstrong said: “We try and do live feeds and a bit of insight into what goes in the pub, and show everyone enjoying themselves. But we couldn't believe it when we saw this one had reached over a million people.

"There's quite a lot of regulars here, they're just a really lovely bunch. It's like a little community pub, they're all friends and there's a lovely atmosphere where everyone sings and dances and feels safe and happy." She added: “As I'm from Stockport myself I know a lot of the regulars, a lot of them are lifelong friends and it's just really nice to have a pub in my hometown.”

The karaoke nights at the Chestergate run every Tuesday from 2pm to 8pm, and from 2pm to 10pm on a Friday.
