Family say tragic loss of man, 27, fatally hit by car has left 'an unfillable hole'

The family of a 27-year-old man who died after he was hit by a car have paid tribute to him, saying his death has left an 'unfillable hole' in their lives. Mark Lawrence, from Warrington, was a pedestrian who died after he was involved in a collision with a Volvo XC90 on October 2.

Police were called to the incident in the early hours, at around 1.50am, on Chester Road. Despite paramedics best efforts and the care from doctors, he passed away three weeks later in hospital on October 23.

His family, who are being supported by specialist officers, have paid tribute to the 'happy, generous and active young man' whose loss will be 'felt by so many'.

Mark’s parents and brother said in a tribute: “The tragic loss of Mark so early in his life is devastating and has left an unfillable hole in our family; it is unfair that such a happy, generous, and active young man has been lost.

“Mark’s loss will be felt by so many beyond his immediate family, who loved and respected him, including his grandparents, uncles, aunties and cousins in both England and the Philippines and countless friends from England and around the world who have supported his family through this difficult time.”

The driver of the Volvo, a 32-year-old man from Runcorn, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation, pending further enquiries.

Police are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has captured footage that may be relevant to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cheshire Police via the Cheshire Police website quoting IML 1379365 or call 101. Information can also be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously via the Crimestoppers website or call 0800 555 111.
