A new clothing store is set to take over the former Diesel property on Bridlesmith Gate and looks set to open in mid-September. Relic x Hooked announced the move on the store windows and on their social media pages.
Relix X Hooked Nottingham already has a store open in the city centre at the top of Victoria Shopping Centre and they also have two locations in Leeds and Brimginahm. They specialise in vintage clothing and sneakers. The owners of the new store have announced they are hiring with applicants encouraged to apply through email.
Diesel clothing closed during lockdown despite being known for its edgy window displays and helpful staff. Relic X Hooked will be in good company as it will be located next to designer clothing brand Flannels and other clothing stores such as Kurt Geiger and Bravissimo. There is already a vintage clothing store, 101 VTG, on the street.

Local residents and those working in the area are excited for the coffee shop to open and hope it will bring younger shoppers into the area.
Heather Cotton from Hucknall, works in one of the shops nearby, she hopes it will bring more shoppers into the area. "I think it's going to do well here as you have lingerie shop and new coffee shops here. I hope it will tempt a few younger people to come down here to shop."
She added: "I work nearby so it would be good to have something for us to have a look around."
Rebecca James has travelled in for the day with her daughter from Long Eaton. She is looking forward to more shops opening in the area. "I hope we get a few new places like this so we can come in and do more shopping. Places have been closing for a while now so it's good to see things opening again."
Richard Adcock works locally but is curious to see what the clothing shop will have in stock. He normally shops online for vintage clothing. "'I am worried it might be a bit pricey. I normally get my vintage clothing from an online marketplace like Depop but I wouldn't mind popping in to see what they have.'
Bridlesmith Gate is undergoing a transformation in the hopes that it can reclaim its former fashion glory. There have been a number of new stores opening or due to open in the next few weeks including Mint Duck, Stick and Ribbon and the coffee shop, Barista Lab. They have taken over former empty premises, some of which had been empty for some time prior to Covid restrictions.
Nottingham-property developers ALB Group has purchased, to date, eleven different properties in Bridlesmith Gate, Lister Gate and Byard Lane with a view to making the streets 'cool again.' It follows a number of high-profile closures on the street including Whistles, Cath Kidson and MAC Cosmetics.
