The family of a young father blasted to death with a shotgun demanded an end to the “wall of silence” as Crimestoppers reissued a £20,000 reward.

Akeem Moore, 22 - a gifted footballer and musician - was killed when a gunman burst into a garden on Eastney Road, Croydon, opened fire and fled.

His friend Faisal Mudde was injured in the attack on October 7, 2016. But a case against the prime suspect, then 36, collapsed at the Old Bailey in 2017.

Mr Moore’s mother Lilian Nelson said on Friday: “Since Akeem’s murder and with no one having been found responsible, we are asking anyone who knows what happened to please do the right thing.

“Crimestoppers are not the police and they don’t want your personal details.

“Just tell them what happened so that they can pass it on and help us get justice for Akeem. He never, ever deserved what happened to him.”

A friend tried to cradle Mr Moore’s head as he bled profusely from a gunshot wound to his temple.

Mr Moore, a former pupil at St Mary’s Catholic High School in Croydon, had completed a music course at Croydon College.

Alexa Loukas, the charity Crimestoppers’ London regional manager, said: “Despite this happening a number of years ago, Akeem’s loved ones and friends continue to wait for answers as to what exactly happened on that night.

“Please remember that with our charity, we promise no police, no courts, no witness statements. All you do is tell us what happened and we will do the rest.

“Crimestoppers, which is completely independent of the police, keeps its promise of 100 per cent anonymity to more than a thousand people who trust us with their crime information every single day.”
