Emmerdale viewers were left predicting drama ahead for Charles Anderson, as he gave in and visited killer Meena Jutla in prison.
Keeping the visits a secret, fans were urging him to ignore her visit pleas this week as she tried to get inside his head.
Taunting him and trying to turn him against her sister Manpreet Sharma, the latest episode of the ITV soap saw Charles give in - but he shut down her attempts to badmouth Manpreet.
He seemed to think he was in control of the situation, as he almost got Meena to talk about her murders including the deaths of Ben Tucker, Andrea Tate and Leanna Cavanagh.
Charles told her that if she really wanted his help to get forgiveness from God, then she needed to "purge her soul" and confess to all of her sins.
She was taken aback amid her plan to target the vicar, as Charles clearly believed he might be able to get confessions out of Meena who had yet to admit to killing anyone other than Ben, which she claimed was self-defence.
He confided in pal and police officer Harriet Finch though, who reminded him that due his secrecy and confidentiality, he wouldn't be able to reveal what Meena says - or use it in court.
It's then that he suggested to her that he was trying to gain her trust so that after confessing to him, she may do the same in court.
Charles could not let it go, after speaking to Meena and encouraging her that she needed to tell him every detail and every crime.
She looked a little awkward like she didn't believe him, but their meeting was cut short - leading to Meena telling him to come back so she could tell him all about Ben's death.
He told her he also needed to know what happened to Leanna and Andrea, and she was shown contemplating what her next move would be.
As Charles later spoke with Harriet, he was warned he was playing with fire and that it could all blow up in his face.
Reminding him that he could see the villagers turn their backs on him if it all went wrong, he insisted he needed to get justice and get Meena to confess.
Viewers were worried that Charles was about to fall under Meena's "spell" though and that she would manipulate him, thwarting any plan to stop her.
One fan said: "I think Charles is under Meena’s spell, no hope for him now."
Another tweeted: "Meena’s playing you Charles…don’t get taken in by her."
A third added: "Meena is getting inside your head Charles. She is using and emotionally manipulating you. If only you knew that shame that you're a vicar and believe in forgiveness."
