Emmerdale has aired a heartbreaking exit for Marcus - as Ethan learned of his big secret.
It had been teased there were some big scenes ahead for Marcus and Ethan, who had been struggling in their relationship as of late after Ethan's boss Greg made some unwanted advances to Marcus. As a result, the couple have been struggling and at one point they even split up as their relationship took a bad turn before it ultimately ended.
On tonight's episode of the ITV soap, Ethan returned to their home with a big question to ask Marcus and prove his commitment.
"I know I've not exactly planned this but it doesn't mean it's any less sincere. I want you to know how serious I am about us, and I know we have fallen out recently but I still love you. No one's ever made me feel the way you do," he said.
"I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Look, I didn't get a chance to buy you anything proper, but I thought this would do for you now. Will you marry me?" He got down on one knee in their living room, brandishing a ring made of sweets.
Just as he asked, a mystery man came downstairs, doing up his trousers after clearly being intimate with Marcus.
"It wasn't just last night, we used to be a thing. Also, don't you think you should have mentioned you were involved with someone?" the guy told him before Marcus told him to leave: "I said go! Ethan, listen to me. Don't let something stupid ruin what we've got."
Ethan was adamant he didn't want to continue in their romance, telling his boyfriend: "I want you gone, I want you gone now. You owe me for my time and effort trying to keep us together."
Marcus then added: "You haven't exactly made things easy for us, have you? I haven't been able to match your standards. You - you and your lawyer mates and your fancy words, your big causes and me on my hands and knees messing around with wires. We're from two different worlds," as Ethan insisted to him that didn't matter.
"To be honest, what difference does it make? It shouldn't matter where you're from if you love someone. I can see you looking down your nose at me all the time," he told him, as Marcus looked devastated by it all.
He told him: "I messed up. I'm sorry. Don't tell me you never messed up? Oh no sorry Mr Perfect," before Ethan gave him a final word of warning: "I've heard enough, it's finished. Just leave will you before I kick you out myself."
