Emily Andre slams Kim Kardashian’s 16lb crash diet and brands it 'dangerous'

Emily Andre has hit out at Kim Kardashian after the sex tape star lost over one stone in weight in the space of a month in oder to fit into a dress.

The 32-year-old wife of Peter Andre, 49, is a qualified doctor and has voiced her concern that 41-year-old Kim has promoted an unhealthy crash diet.

The reality star turned heads when she attended the Met Gala last week wearing a dress previously owned by Marilyn Monroe.

But to get into the dress, Kim endured a near impossibly strict diet and exercise regime that saw her limit her calorie intake, shun carbs and sugar, and work out daily on the treadmill as well as wearing a sauna suit twice per day in order to lose 16lbs so she could slip into the tiny dress.

Emily advises against the diet, telling OK! Magazine: "Kim’s already tiny and losing a lot of weight quickly when you’re already slim can be dangerous and can cause issues such as low blood sugar or salt imbalance.

"I would never recommend crash dieting to fit in a dress, but there is a lot of pressure on women to look a certain way or be a certain weight, so I have sympathy for that."

Emily went on to slam Kim for turning her back on her normally balanced approach to healthy eating and exercise.

She said: “She usually advocates a healthy lifestyle, regularly exercises and eats healthily, so hopefully this is a one-off - but it’s not a great message."

Emily is not the only health expert to blast Kim for setting a dangerous precedent for weight loss.

Ex-EastEnders star Melissa Suffield has also blasted the American star, writing online: "I would hope that it doesn’t need saying, but just in case it does- Losing 16lbs in 3 weeks is not a healthy rate of weight loss.

"Cutting entire food groups is not sustainable, and it can lead you down a dark path.

"If your dress doesn’t fit you, get a different dress. Please remember that you are perfect, just the way you are."

Riverdale star Lili Reinhart also appeared to criticise Kim, writing online: "To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are... because you haven't eaten carbs in the last month... all to fit in a f****** dress?

"So wrong. So f***** on 100s of levels. To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala.

"When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting."

While members of the public have also raged against Kim – with one tweeting: “the kim kardashian weight loss thing is f**ked up and NOT okay to talk about on national television where the youth will find it and bring it to therapy to defend their eating disorders.”

Another critic posted on Twitter : “Kim said she's been avoiding carbs and as soon as the night is over she's ordering pizza. Eek, restricting yourself for dramatic weight loss to basically binge afterwards isn't healthy or worth it. We are all enough as we are.”

And a further fan wrote: “ Kim Kardashian looked beautiful at the Met Gala, but she has promoted unrealistic body standards for YEARS (diet teas, waist trainers, $$$ procedures, etc) and her talking about losing 16 Ibs in 3 weeks to fit into Marilyn's dress (which no one should get to wear) is appalling.”

Meanwhile, Kim’s trainer defended her extreme diet, telling TMZ: "I think one of the misconceptions people have about Kim is she works like, really hard, so I was there through the process. So, it wasn't like a starving herself type of thing. I mean, she's been on a balanced diet.

"At times, she wouldn't eat as much, but the second thing is she really put the work in." He added that "it's possible to lose 20 pounds in a healthy way".
