A large emergency services response has been called to a section of the Manchester Ship Canal to reports of a person in the water. Police, fire, and ambulance crews have been rushed to the swing bridge on Northwich Road, in the Stockton Heath area of Warrington.
The emergency services were first called around 10.19am with a significant section of the road closed off. A helicopter has also been seen circling the area.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Emergency services have been called to a report of a person in the water at Stockton Heath. A Service swift water rescue boat has been launched and the crew is searching the Manchester Ship Canal to try and locate the reported person.
"Police have closed London Road while emergency services are at the scene. This incident will be updated when more information becomes available."
Cheshire Police have been approached for more information.
