An Edinburgh restaurant has issued an urgent scam warning to all its customers.
Dishoom in Edinburgh has contacted their customers via email to alert them of a scam taking place. In the email, they say that someone is contacting customers and asking for their personal financial information. The restaurant is reminding customers that they would never ask for personal or financial information over the phone.
According to UK Finance, criminals used the Covid-19 pandemic to target victims online through impersonation scams, romance fraud and investment scams. Meanwhile, the cost of living crisis is also being exploited by scammers.

In the email, Dishoom states: "Dear friend. We wanted to get in touch with our beloved guests to remind you that Dishoom would never ask you to share personal or financial information over the phone.
"A handful of diners have let us know today that they have been contacted by someone masquerading as a Dishoom employee, asking for personal information. This certainly wasn’t us! So we thought we'd remind you, our lovely guests, that you should never be asked to share financial information over the phone by neither us nor any company.
"We welcome you to get in touch with us at hello@dishoom.com if you are contacted by anyone in this way, and we will respond as soon as possible.
"Wishing everyone a great weekend. Dishoom Team."
The Indian restaurant is open all day and is famous in the capital city for its Bacon Naan Rolls in the morning.
They style their food as ‘Bombay comfort food’ and offer a range of authentic curries that have made them a fixture in Edinburgh since they opened in 2016 on St Andrew's Square.
