Edinburgh firefighters rushed to Leith's Banana Flats on Wedsnesday afternoon to an ongoing incident.
An Edinburgh resident reported seeing fire appliances responding to an incident at the famous landmark in Leith shortly after 4pm.
Photographs show multiple fire appliances with more than 15 firefighters and a Police Scotland van on sight outside the block of flats in Edinburgh.
A spokesperson for Fire Scotland said that Edinburgh firefighters responded to Cables Wynd House, also known as the 'banana flats' on Wednesday evening for unspecified incident.
"We responded to Cable Wynd House at 16:05 [on Wednesday 2 November]. There are four fire appliances and one height appliance on scene."
Fire Scotland did not have any information about the nature of the incident, injuries or evacuation as of 5pm.
Based on photos from the scene, emergency ambulance services are not present at this time.
The banana flats are well known in Edinburgh as the home of Sick Boy in the iconic Edinburgh-set novel Trainspotting. The blocks are huge, elongated, 10-storey behemoths that dominate the skyline of Leith, commonly referred to as the "Banana Flats" due to its distinctive curved design.
The flats are near the Water of Leith close to the harbour.
Fire Scotland responded to another fire incident near Haymarket on Wednesday at lunchtime as well, where two people were reportedly injured.
