Ed Sheeran has designed a special Blue Peter badge to mark BBC Music Day.
The singer/songwriter said in a statement that he had “always loved” the long-running BBC show and that he was “made up” to design the badge.
“Music was really important to me growing up and I hope this badge will inspire more kids to get into it,” he said.
The multi-coloured badge, which features the iconic Blue Peter ship surrounded by a microphone, music notes and piano keys, has been released to coincide with BBC Music Day.
Now in its fifth year, the celebration will see more than 2,000 events taking place across the UK, with the aim to mark the importance of music in changing people’s lives.
Lewis Capaldi, Professor Green and Craig David are among the names taking part in the celebrations.
In order to get hold of Sheeran’s badge, children will need to tell Blue Peter how much they enjoy making music. They will also need to name their top three songs of all time, and ask a parent, grandparent or teacher about their musical memories and how music has inspired them.
Paul McCartney will be sharing his own musical memories during a special edition of the programme on the 26 September, which will also feature the launch of the Sheeran badge.
Sheeran was awarded a special gold Blue Peter badge last year as part of the show’s 60th birthday celebrations.
