Flowers are blooming, the air is getting warmer and a whole hoard of chocolate eggs are hitting supermarket shelves in full force just in time for the Easter bank holiday weekend (April 7 to April 10) . And these days, there is so much choice... it's not just a plain old hollow milk chocolate egg anymore.
From your dairy milk classics to your Lindt bunny extravaganzas - as well as chocolate eggs that cater for those who don't eat dairy or animal products - there's something for everyone in which to indulge to the max.
Now, we know that you can't go wrong with a Nestle bargain egg or pastel-coloured Mini Eggs or a Maltesers special, but if you want to truly indulge this Easter, we've clocked some of the most luxurious options in supermarkets - Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Aldi, Lidl and Marks and Spencer - right now that will be well worth the extra few pounds and give your Buttons Easter treat a run for its money.

With most supermarkets offering the usual sweetie suspects, we've rustled up a list (that includes but isn't limited to) some of the most sumptuous sounding and looking eggs that'll really spruce up your Easter holidays. Plus, they'll add a bit of pizzazz to your egg hunt - it's not just the kids who can enjoy Easter.
Tesco
Alongside the usual contenders, Tesco has a few special eggs in its midst such as Toblerone The Edgy Egg Milk Chocolate Easter Egg (£12) which is available for delivery or collection and consists of a hollow egg with a honey and almond nougat - just like the sweet snack.
Meanwhile, Tony's Chocolonely Egg-Stra Special Mix Chocolate at £5 features a selection of Belgian Fairtrade dark, dark milk, milk, and white chocolate eggs with pieces of hazelnut, nougat, caramel, almond and sea salt dotted throughtout.
Asda
Thick Belgian white chocolate with a sprinkling of raspberries and marshmallows throughout, ASDA's Extra Special Raspberry & Marshmallow White Chocolate Easter Egg sounds like a real corker if you want to push the boat out this Easter (£7). More of a dark chocolate fiend with a penchat for snacks such as After Eights? You're best going for its Extra Special Peppermint & Cocoa Nib Dark Chocolate Easter Egg (also £7).
Waitrose
With a name like The Golden Apple, you just know this chocolatey treat will take your Easter spread to the next level. And if the name, Heston from Waitrose - The Golden Apple (£15), isn't enticing enough, just wait til you hear what it's made of. The website describes it best: "A shimmering blonde chocolate apple hiding a layer of thick, dark chocolate inside, with six crunchy praline feuilletine chocolates". The apple is made from caramelised sugar and decorated with dark and white chocolate.
If that's a smidge too OTT, however, try this: No1 Blonde Chocolate with Salted Caramel Truffles Easter Egg with Waitrose - £11 - which is made up of white chocolate, caramelised sugar, feulletine wafer and salt egg under which lies a secret box filled with four salted caramel truffles.
Sainsbury's
A sticky toffee pudding in Easter egg form... does it get more sumptuous than that? This Taste The Difference Sticky Toffee Chocolate Egg - £6 - is crunchy, buttery, toffee-ey, and pure lush. A hollow milk chocolate egg, it is decorated with white chocolate, caramel pieces and fudge cubes. Delish.
Sticky toffee isn't everyone's bag, so we've found a different type of chocolate indulgence that will always have us drooling - Guylian Easter special, which features 12 Guylian Belgian Chocolate Sea Shells that is elevated by a Luxury Milk Chocolate Egg (£10).
Morrisons
Morrisons premium Easter egg collection is pretty luxurious. They aren't just any bog standard chocolate eggs. They're choccy treats with a sprinkle of something special. Such as its Best Space Eggs Milk Marbled Orange - £6 - or this Best Space Eggs Marbled White Blonde - £6. What is blonde chocolate I hear you say? It's creamy white chocolate that has been cooked at a lower temperature to make a more caramel taste. Oof.
For those who are avoiding dairy, gluten and wheat, sink your teeth into the Free From Salted Caramel Honeycomb Egg (£5.99), which is made with Angelesey sea salt (so you know it'll be good), and dipped in crunchy honeycomb pieces.
Aldi
Just because Aldi is deemed the more cost efficient supermarket, that doesn't mean it can't do luxury. Its Moser Roth Belgian Ruby Chocolate Geometric Egg - £3.99 - looks like a work of art and no doubt tastes like one too. This pink egg (pink!) is made from Ruby chocolate (which is created with the Ruby cocoa bean) and has raspberry pieces running through it. What's cool is that it isn't smooth and round but geometrially shaped. .
Coffee fiends, this one's for you. This Moser Roth Dark Chocolate Lovers Duo Egg (£6.49) is made up of 56% and 70% dark chocolate with strokes of rich roast coffee running through it. For those wanting something a little more fun, this lifelike - but totally edible - sundae is a winner. Included in the Dairyfine Milk Fudge Sundae (£8.99) is a sundae 'glass' made from white and milk chocolate drizzle with blonde chocolate and fudge pieces and filled with mini eggs.
Lidl
Another shop which is known and loved for it affordable prices, Lidl is offering some prett impressive eggs. Like this Deluxe Lattice Fruit & Nut Easter Egg for £9.99, which involves hazelnut pieces, raisins tightly packaged in a milk chocolate lattice egg. This Deluxe Triple Chocolate Marble Egg - £6.99 - also looks far too good to eat. It also has a Pink Gin White Chocolate version. Not sweet enough? Try its 'Eton Mess' Premium Easter Egg (£3.99), whose strawberries and cream flavoured white chocolate egg is doused in meringue and strawberry pieces.
Marks and Spencer
These aren't just any old Easter eggs. These are Marks and Spencer Easter eggs (we had to). Which of course means manificent Easter treats to the nines, such as this 23 Carrot Gold and Bunny Ears treat for £9. Now we know it's not technically an egg, due to its shape, but it is a hollow chocolate object that is deliciously edible and looks stunning. Made with blonde chocolate, it has been decorated with real gold leaf and paired with four bunny ears made out of white chocolate and filled with salted caramel.
M&S's Blonde Chocolate Egg with Chocolate Mini eggs - £12 - will definitely have you ooh-ing and ah-ing after taking one bite - or even one glance. The website describes it as: "Beneath this decadent golden blond chocolate egg is a bag of cocoa dusted milk chocolate mini eggs filled with an indulgent milk chocolate ganache."
Jurassic Park fans, this Chocosaurus Rex egg - £6 - is for you. A milk chocolate egg, moulded into the shape of a T-Rex, whose eyes are white chocolate. These eggs can be found on the Ocado website.
