Easter 2023 supermarket opening times including Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Morrisons, M&S and more

Easter Bank Holiday weekend is finally here and usually, the Easter period brings some changes to supermarkets' regular opening hours.

There are two Bank Holidays this weekend and they are Good Friday, which falls on April 8, and Easter Monday, which is April 10.

Just like at Christmas and New Year, shopping hours differ and it's worth knowing about those changes in case you need to pick up some last-minute Easter eggs, hot cross buns or roast dinner bits.

Mirror Money has rounded up the Bank Holiday opening times for the major UK supermarkets including Aldi, Tesco, and Asda over the Easter weekend so you know your local shop will be open.

Keep in mind the below is just a rough guide - opening times vary across the country, so check your local store online first before making the trip to avoid disappointment.

Tesco

Tesco stores will be open on Good Friday - typically between 6am and 10pm - with its convenience stores operating under their normal hours closing as late as 11pm.

All stores will then be closed on Easter Sunday, except in Scotland.

On Easter Monday, some larger stores have announced that they will be open between 8am and 10pm, however some Tesco sites will be closing much earlier at 6pm.

Tesco's opening hours over the Easter period vary from store to store and by location.

Asda

Asda advises that on Good Friday and Saturday, most stores will be open from around 6am or 7am until 10pm.

Its 24-hour stores be opening as normal on both days, however, they will be shutting their doors at 10pm on Easter Saturday due to Sunday trading hours.

Asda will be shutting its larger stores on Easter Sunday, except those in Scotland.

On Easter Monday, opening times for the majority of Asda stores will be between 7am to 8pm.

Morrisons

Morrisons stores will be open as usual on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, typically between 7am to 10pm.

All Morrisons supermarkets will be closed on Easter Sunday except for those in Scotland which will be open under their normal Sunday trading hours.

The "vast majority" of Morrisons convenience stores will also be open from between 6am until 11pm with some exceptions such as sites inside shopping centres.

On Easter Monday, most Morrisons outlets will be open 7am to 8pm although a few will remain open until 10pm.

Sainsbury's

On Good Friday and Saturday, the vast majority of Sainsbury’s supermarkets will be open under their usual trading hours of around 7am until 10pm.

On Easter Sunday, all of Sainsbury's large superstores will be closed in England and Wales however, its Scottish stores will open in line with Sunday trading hours.

The supermarket's smaller 800 UK-wide convenience stores will remain open as usual from 7am to 10pm on Easter Sunday.

On Easter Monday, the vast majority of stores will be open 8am to 8pm and convenience stores will open from 7am to 10pm.

Aldi

All of Aldi's supermarket sites in England and Wales will close on Easter Sunday and its Scottish stores will remain open as normal.

Aldi stores will be open as normal on Good Friday and Easter Saturday opening from 8am until 10pm.

The supermarket will reopen on Monday, April 10, with its opening hours being 8am until 8pm.

Lidl

Lidl will be closing all of its stores in England and Wales on Easter Sunday and its Scottish stores will be open under Sunday trading hours.

The discount supermarket chain will be opening its doors as normal across England and Wales on Good Friday and Saturday with doors open until 10pm.

Lidl stores will open again on Bank Holiday Monday at 8am but till be shutting a little earlier than normal at 8pm rather than 10pm.

Marks and Spencer

The upmarket shop is another supermarket which will be closing its England and Wales store doors on Easter Sunday. Scottish M&S stores are also set to remain open under their Sunday trading hours.

M&S stores will be open on Good Friday and Easter Monday and will be opening under their usual times which is usually from 8am until 8pm.

Again, on Easter Saturday the store will be trading under its normal opening hours.

Opening hours for your local M&S does vary, with some sites closing at 7pm and some at 9pm, so make sure you check before you visit to avoid disappointment.
