EastEnders announce huge schedule shake-up as George Knight's secret finally exposed

Ever since George Knight arrived in Walford, EastEnders viewers have been desperate to find out the truth about his ex-wife and the BBC soap has now confirmed all will be revealed this week.

The truth about George's (Colin Salmon) dark past and family will be unveiled on Wednesday and Thursday, with the BBC switching up the soap's schedule to make way for this huge revelation.

EastEnders airs on BBC iPlayer Monday to Thursday before later broadcasting on BBC One at 7.30pm.

However, this Wednesday and Thursday, the BBC soap will air on BBC One and iPlayer simultaneously at 7.30pm so that audiences can watch the truth unfold together.

Fans will know Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is determined to get to the bottom of George's past after becoming convinced he's using her mother to get his hands on The Vic.

Phil doesn't trust George (BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron)

In this week's episodes, Linda enlists the help of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) who is suspicious about whether he can trust the man he plans to go into business with.

Phil convinces a reluctant Callum Highway ( Tony Clay ) to search the police database to find out whether Linda has anything to worry about.

Callum confirms George has a relatively clean record but somewhat alarmingly he cannot find any information on his ex-wife Rose.

Linda believes this revelation is all the proof she needs that George shouldn't be trusted but Phil isn't so sure and invites the former champion boxer to the Den to ask him directly about Rose.

George insists his future step-daughter has nothing to worry about but Phil struggles to believe him and asks his lawyer to dig up dirt on his potential new business associate.

Phil later accuses the newcomer of not being straight with him and spoilers confirm EastEnders fans will finally discover the truth about what he's hiding this week.

Meanwhile, George star Colin recently addressed the mystery surrounding his character's past.

He sad: "Conflict is drama, and drama is our business. It's complex! Life is complex, and there are so many things that can send people off on the wrong trajectory. I love the idea of exploring that in drama because the catalyst doesn't have to be some huge thing.

"It can just be a misunderstanding. It's more real like that. Being misunderstood is a nightmare for a straight shooter like George."
