East Lothian Greggs confirms opening date inside huge Tesco megastore

The opening date has been confirmed for a new Greggs bakery within an East Lothian Tesco store.

Earlier this month it was announced that the high street bakery would be teaming up with Tesco to open a new venue within their Musselburgh store in what is a first for Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Edinburgh Live understands that Greggs is due to open as early as November 12, serving up their popular savouries, sandwiches and sweet treats.

It will be the second Greggs in the East Lothian town with one already located on the High Street with both sit-in and takeaway options, although is is unknown whether the new venue within Tesco will have the facilities for customers to enjoy their food in-store.

The Tesco Extra in Musselburgh already benefits from a signature café, as well as an F&F Clothing department and Tesco Mobile store.

Greggs recently opened a drive-thru bakery near Tesco outside Dalkeith, Midlothian, but it will be the first time the two retail giants have combined to operate within the same store in the local area.

In recent months, stores in both Edinburgh and Midlothian have closed down due to the expiry of their lease and changing habits of consumers. One of the shops on Rose Street and another in Loanhead both permanently closed as the company explores different opportunities within Edinburgh and the Lothians.
