An angry mum hit out after "dangerous" shards of glass were left strewn over a path used by schoolchildren.
Shocking pictures on social media showed large panels of broken glass lying on the path from the bus stop on Stroud Road leading to Whitehills Terrace in The Murray in East Kilbride.
And the resident said broken glass lying on paths is an ongoing problem, with a school janitor eventually stepping in to sweep broken glass to the side of the path near St Louise Primary.
It is understood that council grounds staff have now cleared the glass after being alerted to the danger by Lanarkshire Live.
The mum told Lanarkshire Live: "It's getting dangerous just taking my kids to school. This is always covered in broken glass but full huge shards is just ridiculous.
"It's a disgrace - there's nowhere safe to walk on that path as there's broken bottles all over the other side as well.
"I tried to get through to the council's grounds department with no joy.
"Our lovely janitor at St Louise kindly swept it all to the side out the way of the path. But the council still had to come and clean it up and they need to keep an eye on it regularly because there's constantly broken glass all down the stairs leading from the bus stop too."
David Booth, executive director of community and enterprise resources at South Lanarkshire Council, said: “On being informed of the matter, grounds Services staff uplifted the fragments of the glass, which had been the result of vandalism to the nearby bus shelter.”
