DWP: How to report missing Cost of Living payment if you've not had first £326 instalment

If you claim low income or tax credit benefits but have not received the first £326 installment of the £650 Cost of Living payment, you can now raise it with the DWP.

Households claiming Universal Credit, Income-based JSA, Income-related ESA, Income Support, Pension Credit or Tax Credits should by now have been paid the first instalment of £326. A second instalment of £324 will be paid in the autumn but no specific dates have been confirmed.

To be eligible, claimants must have been registered for the benefits between April 26 and May 25 this year. The Cost of Living payments are paid to households or individuals, depending on how benefits are claimed.

Claimants can search for the reference “DWP Cost of Living” for £326 on their bank statements to check if they have been paid. Those who have not received the installment, but think they should have, can now report a missing payment. They will need their National Insurance number to check.

The DWP says: "If you think you should have had the £326 payment, but you cannot see it in your bank, building society or credit union account, you can report a missing Cost of Living Payment."

It adds: "Before reporting a missing payment, check your bank, building society or credit union account, or your Payment Exception Service voucher receipt. The payment will be made separately from your benefit."
