Taking your driving test is a nerve-racking experience. If you're lucky, it's something you only have to do once - but sometimes it takes a few tries.
On average, 51 per cent of people who took a driving test for the first time over the last year managed to pass on their first try, which suggests it's not easy to do. Taking a test is also not cheap, so not only are you on the road quicker but you're saving money too if you do manage to pass on your first try.
Learner drivers will want to make sure they have the best chance of passing their test. Test centres have set routes they will use to conduct a practical driving test, and some of these routes will be harder than others. Which one you get is just down to luck.

However, data released by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) could help you decide which test centre you have the best chance of passing at. There are 10 practical driving test centres in Greater Manchester, and some have a much higher pass rate than others.
Nationally, the driving test pass rate is just under 50 per cent. The latest data shows that 49.6 per cent of people who took a driving test between April and December last year passed it. Four of the nine test centres in Greater Manchester have a higher than average test pass rate, while the others fall below.
While almost six in 10 people pass a test at the centre with the highest rate, just over a third manage to pass at the centre with the lowest rate. Here are the pass rates for every centre in Greater Manchester - from the highest to the lowest.
Bolton
Hyde in Tameside has the highest pass rate in Greater Manchester at 58.7 per cent, but there's bad news for learner drivers. The test centre was permanently closed by the DVSA earlier this month.
