Dungeons and Dragons comes to Minecraft in new crossover expansion

A Minecraft and Dungeons and Dragons crossover is in the works, bringing the tabletop RPG to Mojang’s blocky builder. Mojang and Everbloom Games announced the new expansion, called simply Minecraft x Dungeons and Dragons during a special presentation for the classic fantasy game, where Wizards of the Coast also said Minecraft monsters, including the Creeper, will make their official debut in an upcoming Dungeons and Dragons compendium.

While Mojang has included several Minecraft crossovers before, including a recent one starring Mega Man, this is the first collaboration with a tabletop game.

In the Minecraft Dungeons and Dragons expansion, players will choose their character class – paladin, rogue, wizard, or barbarian – and customize stats just as they would in a regular run of the tabletop game. The expansion is approximately 10 hours long and includes locations such as Candlekeep and Icewind Dale.

Each class has a unique set of custom-made abilities and can equip gear that augments their skills as they face off against iconic enemies, such as mindflayers and mimics, with a few new ones, like an evil cube-shaped blob of jelly, thrown in for good measure.

The Dungeons and Dragons movie releases in theaters on March 31, 2023, though there’s no release date for either Minecraft collaboration yet.
