Dumfriesshire Foodbank Apex will be collecting donated food in the Tesco Extra store at Cuckoo Bridge on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
They are hoping the public will support the three-day collection by donating non-perishable tins and packet foodstuffs or make a cash donation which can buy edibles.
Everything donated will go directly to the Dumfriesshire Foodbank in Friars Vennel, which is part of the Trussell Trust network, and given to local people in need.
Peter Johnson and Fiona Dalgliesh of the Dumfries Apex are appealing for people to give what they can to help.

The store has a collection point for the charity all year round, organised by Tesco Cuckoo Bridge staff Anne Croucher, Karen Gillian and Ailsa Hammond.
The store’s community champion, Anne, said: “Food banks and frontline charities are facing up to their hardest Christmas ever so it is important that we all do what we can.”
Tesco stores across the UK will all be holding the collection on the same days for their local areas, making it possibly the UK’s biggest food donation drive.
The food donated will go to the Trussell Trust and FareShare. Both charities are facing an unprecedented demand for food.
The Trussell Trust, which has the largest foodbank network in the UK, has seen a 46 per cent increase in the number of food parcels given out in recent months while FareShare has a growing list of thousands more frontline charities seeking food.
