Dumfries pool player set to represent Scotland at World Eightball Championships

A Dumfries pool player is preparing to represent Scotland and Dumfries in Morocco at the World Eightball Championships next month.

Craig Robertson, who plays for the Normandy Bar in the local Tuesday League, has kept his place in the Scotland team after representing the nation in Killarney, Ireland at the Worlds last year.

Craig, who runs CR Paving and Construction, was in Malta in February with the team as a part of the European Championships. Scotland have won 12 times at the WEPF Championship with Craig hoping to make it lucky 13 in July.

He said: “I’ve been playing for the last 10 years internationally.

“I was picked for the men’s Worlds team last year and I’ve been retained for the same championships. This is things getting back to normal after Covid-19 and I’m looking forward to going.

“This is the big one. I’m excited and looking forward to it. We’ve got a really strong team and Scotland has won it
before.”

Craig’s Scotland berth came after he qualified through a national tour with four major events with the top four ranked players getting an automatic place.

The WEPF Worlds run from July 2 to 11 and anyone who would like to sponsor Craig can do so by emailing him at craigrob8ball@gmail.
