Two Dumfries businesses have been honoured for their support for the armed services.
Vigilant Security and Currie Solutions were this week presented with a Silver Employer Recognition Scheme Award from the Ministry of Defence.
The distinguished accolade is the second-highest badge of honour available to organisations that employ and support reservists, service leavers, veterans and their families.
Each Silver Award winner has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, a commitment to supporting defence through services, policy and projects.
On Wednesday, Paul Williamson, operations director of Vigilant Security, received the award from Colour Sergeant McGinley of 6 SCOTS (Ayr).
Mr Williamson said: “We are extremely proud to have been awarded silver status for the Employer Recognition Scheme.
“As an organisation founded by veterans and who employ a high proportion of ex-forces personnel, this award gives recognition of the highest regard in which we hold our Armed Forces and the significant contribution they make to our organisation.”
Vigilant Security registers vacancies through military job websites and participates in fundraising events for charities.
Colour Sgt McGinley also presented the award to Currie Solutions, an international transport and storage company at Heathhall on the outskirts of Dumfries.
Having first gained the Silver ERS Award in 2017, the firm was presented with its Silver ERS Revalidation certificate.
Colonel Ted Shields MBE DL, chief executive of Lowland Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association, praised the companies.
