Dublin Fire Brigade have teased their UK colleagues over their viral training video.
The clip on Twitter showing firefighter training in the UK that teaches junior firefighters how to squeeze through tight spaces with their equipment came under some friendly fire from their Dublin colleagues. The viral video, originally shared by writer Giles Paley-Phillips in 2019, shows a fully equipped firefighter in front of a horizontally placed ladder who manages to squeeze through the rungs along with his entire equipment.
“I would have stepped over it myself…” DFB fired away under the Tweet. The video was also shared on Reddit where many viewers initially had the same burning question: why was the firefighter squeezing through the rungs of the ladder? “Firefighters are liquid like cats?!” one Reddit user exclaimed in disbelief.

“How do you think they put out fires?” another user joked.
Watching the video from the beginning and the firefighter wearing full gear, it is indeed difficult to believe that he would squeeze through the tight space created by the rungs of the ladder. “Geez, firefighters are cats,” a third user commented.

Some wondered what would happen if a firefighter tries to fit in but can’t and called it ‘risky’. “It's probably for a building collapsing where one has the time,” others theorised. “If there is a fire, they'd probably consider that path blocked and find other paths that aren't completely blocked.”
