Dublin Fire Brigade is on the look out for end of life vehicles as they train up new recruits.
The fire brigade is collecting old cars across the Dublin area for essential road traffic collision training. The vehicles will be used to assist trainee firefighters and paramedics, who will need to tackle crash sites to qualify in their new roles.
Staff will arrange for vehicle collection through a contractor, with vans, HGVs and buses also accepted as donations. It takes roughly 25 cars to train up a group of new recruits completing their two week road collision course.

Dublin Fire Brigade wrote online: "Vehicle design is constantly changing and new technologies are being introduced by manufacturers. Firefighters and officers need to train regularly to keep their skills up to date with these new developments in how to safely and efficiently extricate casualties from crashed vehicles."
"The will be used to train new recruits in our training centre, or to upskill current operational firefighters on-station."
All donated vehicles must have appropriate certification and a logbook. An end of life certificate will be issued to the relevant vehicle by contractors.
People interested in donating their used cars can contact Dublin Fire Brigade directly at 01 222 4199 or by emailing them at dfbtrainingcentre@dublincity.ie
