DSPCA's free shelter educational tours will return in May after two years of being cancelled.
The animal welfare charity in Rathfarnham has run the tours for years but they have been on hold since 2020 due to the pandemic.
Schools, colleges and community groups are all welcome to attend the tours and create an age/ability appropriate session tailored to those who attend.
The DSPCA have been hosting online educational talks during Covid-19 but said it's "really nice" to get back to face-to-face tours.
Gillian Bird of the DSPCA told Dublin Live: "We're still doing online talks and we'd be encouraging schools to do the online talks and then to follow it up with a tour in the shelter.
"Basically what we do is, if they haven't been to us before then we do an introductory talk in our classroom.
"We talk to them about the work we do here in the DSPCA, why the animals are here, what they'll be seeing, what they won't be seeing, why they will and won't be seeing certain animals.
"And we explain to them that it is a working shelter with working veterinary and we have wildlife and things.
"So we tell them we can bring them down to see the cats and dogs available for re-homing but we can't bring you into the areas that have very nervous wildlife like the foxes and badgers.
"So we explain to them what animals are on-site and what we currently have in the shelter that we're looking after.
"We'll have a topical talk then and discuss anything that the teachers might be interested in."
Then, the group are brought out on a 1.5km perimeter walk around the grounds where there are views of the Hellfire Club and Dublin Bay.
Bio-diversity, eco-systems and wildlife are all discussed during a tour of the grounds and the groups also visit the re-homing kennels for dogs and the Cattery.
There's also a stable area with resident goats, ducks, chickens and pigs and a picnic area to finish the tour with some lunch.
Gillian said the tours are free of charge but donations are always appreciated.
She asked teachers to contact the DSPCA with any questions they have and said that online talks are available before the tour.
