Driver tries illegal manoeuvre on roundabout but instantly gets caught by nearby gardai

A driver who attempted to drift around a busy city centre roundabout got quite the shock when nearby gardai caught them out - resulting in an arrest and their car being seized.

Officers in the south-east of the country were recently on patrol when they encountered the silver vehicle.

It was drifting around a roundabout in the inner city of Waterford - completely unaware that gardai were nearby.

They flagged the driver down, where it was revealed that the car was not insured.

That meant it was seized, with the double whammy of the driver being arrested for dangerous driving.

A Garda statement read: "Gardaí from the Waterford Roads Policing Unit saw this driver attempting to drift their car on an inner city roundabout.

"The car was seized for having no insurance and the driver was arrested for dangerous driving. Court proceedings to follow."

If you are convicted of dangerous driving, you could be fined up to €5000, or be sent to prison for up to 6 months, or both.

If you are convicted of dangerous driving causing death or serious bodily harm, you could be fined up to €20,000 and imprisoned for up to 10 years, or both.

Thankfully, no one appeared to be injured in the Waterford incident.
