Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce made his way to Super Bowl LVII radio row this week to record one final podcast with his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, ahead of Sunday’s game.
The show, which was released Thursday, opened with the Eagles mascot and cheer squad visiting, and they did the team chant: “E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles!” Travis added his own ending: “Suck!” Jason got a big laugh out of that.
In their final thoughts, the brothers noted they next see each other at the coin toss before Super Bowl LVII. Kelce said he was captain for the sixth straight season and that means his captain’s patch is colored gold.
“I’m going to try and keep it as regular as possible and not even feel like I’m playing my brother until after the game,” Travis said.
Jason replied: “Yeah, I think that’s the way to go. I think that’s what I’m going to try and do. I think on the field there’ll be certain emotions that take over. You’re not going to be able to stop and I’m not going to be able to stop. The testosterone is gonna be flowing, blood’s gonna be pumping, caffeine is gonna be rolling right now. It’s gonna be some energy and it’s gonna be a fun one.”
Travis said his plan is to act like he doesn’t even know Jason, and his brother said he intends to spoil that idea.
“You are officially now the enemy,” Travis said.
Mom’s advice
At the very end, the brothers’ mother, Donna, joined the show. She was asked to give the boys a final piece of advice.
“Well, basically, you know the message is to you guys to just play hard,” she said.
“Leave it all out there in the field. And just have a blast because this is going to be a great game.”
Travis’ response: “You said it best, mommy.”
