President-elect Donald Trump has recently converted his presidential campaign committee into a leadership PAC, a strategic move that allows him to continue raising and spending funds for political purposes, despite being ineligible to run for president again due to constitutional restrictions.
As per the latest filings with the Federal Election Commission, Trump transformed his primary campaign committee, 'Donald J. Trump for President 2024, Inc.,' into a leadership PAC named 'Never Surrender, Inc.' on November 12.
Leadership PACs serve as versatile tools for political fundraising and expenditure. They can be established by federal candidates or officeholders either in addition to a traditional campaign committee or as a substitute for one. These PACs enable individuals to raise funds and allocate them to support allies or other political causes.
It is important to note that unlike super PACs, leadership PACs are subject to certain limitations. They cannot accept unlimited contributions from major donors and are bound by stricter regulations regarding their involvement in elections.
'Never Surrender, Inc.' marks the second leadership PAC under Trump's control, alongside the 'Save America' leadership PAC that he established shortly after the 2020 election. The latter was utilized by Trump to cover substantial legal expenses arising from various legal challenges he encountered post his term in office.
