A dog walker has taken to the internet to share pictures of a shocking discovery in the snow, which led to their pet going on "high alert".
Jay Jones has now sparked fears that there may be a big cat on the loose in the woods in the UK, after snapping photos of some very large footprints.
His wife has now been left fearful that there may be 'something' lurking around them, after Google images brought up similar results to what they saw.
Jay recalled the moment he saw the gigantic footprints, saying he was walking his dog on Wednesday in a woodland near Hallworthy, between Camelford and Launceston in north Cornwall.
All of a sudden, he spotted something strange in the snow.
Jay’s worried wife Rowena immediately took to share photos of the footprints, which clearly have a grooving consistent with paws, report Cornwall Live.
She also took a side-by-side comparison of the prints and Jay's hand, which show that they are roughly the same size.
Speaking about the worrying discovery, Rowena said: “Jay was in woodland area next to The Wilsey Down pub. He sent the pictures to me whilst walking and I was taking the mickey saying you better get out or a big cat will come and eat you.
“We laughed but then couldn’t work out what else it could be. I googled big cat paw prints and they look very similar.
She added: “Our dog sniffed it and was then on high alert. It’s all very strange.”
In August this year, a host of Snowdonia explorers revealed sightings of elusive big cats across the national park - with someone even taking a photo of a giant paw print.
Three walkers were shocked to find themselves staring upon the footprints of big cats, which were believed to include pumas.
But, despite the numerous sightings and photographic evidence, many people are still sceptical about the existence of big cats in Snowdonia.
Over the summer, Patsy Toleman reported she spotted a "big cat-like creature" after taking her dog for a walk at a country park that runs next to the M5 in Gloucestershire.
The animal looked big enough to be a black Labrador, she said, But when the dog walker looked again, they noted the creature had pointed ears like that of a cat, before it ran away.
And in June 2021, a person from Helston, Cornwall reported what they described as an American bobcat or lynx. Then, in December last year, in Redruth a caller reported a black cat that walked and looked like a panther.
Back then a police report said: “Caller saw a very large big black cat. This big black cat was huge and did not look like a domestic cat, it looked more like a panther and walked like one too.”
