Frightened residents claim they are being forced inside their homes by 'vicious' dive-bombing seagulls - despite living 80 miles from the coast.
Homeowners in Barbourne, Worcester say they can’t even hang their washing outside without being swooped or defecated on by the ferocious birds.
The gulls have even started nesting on local man Gordon Reid’s roof, who says he is worried about them ruining the children's fun at a family barbecue.
He said: "The thought of these birds attacking them and scaring them is very real. They have come down and tried to attack me and my neighbour several times and have covered our gardens with poo.
"They are vicious and I have no idea what to do about this."
The 71-year-old also fears for his and his neighbours' safety, reports the Daily Star, and claims that even walking out of his front door feels like a “run of the gauntlet”.
While Gordon doesn’t want the birds harmed, he is demanding the council take action to prevent the birds from nesting on his home - and believes their attacks are a “matter of public health”
His pleas have been echoed by 61-year-old neighbour Ian Palmer , who filmed himself being attacked by the gulls last month.
The furious birds were seen swooping down to attack him in the clip.
Ian claims to leave his home he now has to put on a waterproof hat and coat before he goes outside - or else the birds rain down faeces on him.
He said: "Gordon and I are both dog owners so it is a concern when our dogs are outside as well, plus the weather has been largely really good lately and it makes you want to not sit in your garden and enjoy it.
"It might sound amusing to some people but running the gauntlet every time you go outside is not much fun.
"These gulls are huge too and could really do someone harm if they're not careful."
A spokesperson for Worcester City Council said: "Whilst we don’t have a statutory duty to deal with gulls nesting on private property, we do our best to offer support to businesses and residents to help make their properties gull-proof.
