A young deer was rescued after being stuck in a fence for three hours. Just before 8am on Thursday, April 14 fire crews were called to rescue a young deer that had become trapped in iron fencing off Wilford Road, Ruddington.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said that when firefighters arrived the deer was in "lots of distress". And that firefighters were able to calm the animal, release it and then shepherd it back to safety.
After reviewing CCTV footage a nearby home-owner was able to work out the deer had been stuck for three hours before crews arrived.

Crews from West Bridgford and East Leake attended the incident. East Leake Fire Station is an on-call station and home to the animal rescue unit, with firefighters specially trained in rescuing animals.
Station Manager Craig Day said: "Animal rescues are one part of a firefighter's role and we are glad that the deer walked away uninjured after our rescue.
"The caller at this incident used what3words, a free app that gives us an exact location, to guide us to where we needed to be. I'd encourage everyone to download what3words as it could help us get to you quicker in an emergency." Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service informed the RSPCA after the deer was rescued.
