ESPN college football analyst Desmond Howard announced Monday he underwent surgery on his middle finger and had a tumor successfully removed. ESPN declined to comment on the surgery.
“Doc said the surgery went well, the tumor was removed,” Howard wrote on Instagram. “But as you can see, I am still in the clouds. Middle finger back in action in no time!”
In an earlier Instagram post Monday morning, Howard posted himself with his middle finger on his right hand up and a big smile before surgery.
“Happy Monday! Context is always important,” Howard wrote. “The nurse asked which finger are we operating on? And I responded, ‘This one.’ She gotta good laugh.”
It’s unclear exactly what the surgery was or how long Howard will be sidelined for, but it appears the optimistic TV personality is already on the path to recovery.
