Deliveroo will sell newspapers for the first time over the coronation weekend. Customers will be able to choose from a range of titles on the food delivery app.
Big royal moments are always accompanied by newspaper supplement items and pullouts and Deliveroo says the trial will make it easy for people to get these historic papers - which will be delivered directly to their doorsteps. The trial of weekend newspapers is through Deliveroo's rapid grocery delivery service and if successful, could become a regular feature.
Among those available will be the Daily Mirror and Daily Express along with The Guardian, Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail. The trial will only be available on Saturday (May 6). The newspapers will be available via Deliveroo HOP with Morrisons and Deliveroo HOP with Waitrose.
Suzy McClintock, VP of Grocery & HOP at Deliveroo said, “No matter how our customers plan to spend the Coronation weekend, for many people this will be a day they want to look back at in years to come. Newspapers are the perfect memorabilia to capture a moment in time, so we’re excited to finally offer them to our customers on-demand through Deliveroo HOP.
"We’re continuously looking for new ways to enhance the customer experience and convenience on Deliveroo and if this trial is successful, we hope to make newspapers a regular feature on the app."
The trial is running from Deliveroo HOP with Morrisons and Deliveroo HOP with Waitrose sites across the country, covering London, Manchester, Cambridge, Brighton and Bristol on Saturday, the day of the coronation ceremony. Deliveroo wants customers to provide feedback on the trial via social media.
If available in your area, the newspapers will appear on the Deliveroo HOP with Morrisons and Deliveroo HOP with Waitrose menus on Saturday (May 6). Only a limited amount of newspapers will be available.
