Dan Walker's replacement on Channel 5 News this evening told the presenter to "get well soon" after he was knocked from his bike by a car.
Tessa Champan, who stood in for Dan, mentioned the host's crash at the end of the programme this evening, saying: "All of the team wish him a quick recovery and send him all of our best wishes. Get well soon Dan."
The chief correspondent said the former BBC man had a "bit of an accident" but is okay and at home.
A photo of Dan giving a thumbs up with a bruised and grazed face then popped up on the screen, with Tessa saying: "He's trying to keep a smile" on his face.
This morning, Dan uploaded a number of photos of himself in the back of ambulance to twitter.
The former BBC man praised the NHS for quickly coming to his aid after smashing into the ground.
He posted: "Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike.
"Face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken. Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene. This is me smiling. Thankful for our NHS."
Later on, the Strictly star issued a reminder to fans to always wear their helmet when cycling, as he revealed his protective headgear saved his life.
In an update on Instagram, Dan posted photos of himself giving a thumbs up, his smashed watch, ripped jeans and a selfie from the hospital.
In the update, he wrote: "Blown away by all the lovely messages. Thank you.
"Just got home from hospital. Battered and bruised but - amazingly - nothing broken.
"Very thankful to still be here. I have no memory of anything and just remember coming round on the tarmac with paramedics & police around me."
Dan added: "Thanks for all your kindness. Jamie & Shaun were so great in the ambulance - not sure I was making much sense."
"Thanks to Conor the copper, Charlotte in x-ray & Hannah (in blue) for being so considerate & brilliant in such a busy A & E. So thankful for our NHS."
"The helmet I was wearing saved my life today so - if you’re on a bike - get one on your head."
Dan told fans that he had "smashed" his watch and phone, his bike is a mess and his trousers are ruined, but "I'm still here."
Signing off, Dan said he was being looked after by his dog, writing: "Currently eating soup through a straw and being looked after by a gorgeous, furry, tired nurse at the end of the sofa."
After Dan first shared photos of his bloodied face, many sent him get well soon messages.
Fellow broadcaster Mark Clemmit told him: "Mate…..Much love from us."
