Cupra has signalled its intentions to become a dominant player in the European electric car race at a huge launch event - Unstoppable Impulse - which took place in Barcelona.
The firm revealed an all-new, urban electric car - the Cupra UrbanRebel - which the company hopes will be the vehicle that takes electric cars into the mainstream.
The company says that it's the biggest project in its pipeline, part of ambitious plans to sell 500,000 cars per year — compared to the 80,000 sold in 2021.
Plans to enter new markets outside Europe were also mooted.

Along with the supermini UrbanRebel, the company took the wraps off two other electrified models.
The Tavascan is an SUV that follows the Cupra Born hatchback as the brand's second electric vehicle.
While the Terramar SUV will have conventional gasoline powertrains and a PHEV option with 62 miles/100 km of EV range.
The latter two models should go on sale in 2024, a year before UrbanRebel arrives as the cheapest out of the three future electrified models, with prices expected to start at around €20,000.
In an unusual move, Cupra chiefs also announced plans to renew its current product line-up with overhauls to Leon, Formentor and the all-electric Born.
The updated trio all featured the new signature lighting also on the Tavascan and Terramar, consisting of three triangular-shaped daytime running lights within the headlight assembly.
All three facelifted models feature a slim upper opening and a large lower opening.
At the glitzy event, Wayne Griffiths, CEO of CUPRA, enthused: ”By 2025 our aim is to deliver 500,000 cars per year and push forward with our international expansion into new markets as well as entering new segments.
“The CUPRA Tribe is committed to making all this happen, it’s the people that count. Because at the end, It’s the people who make the brand.”
The Cupra UrbanRebel on show at the event looked amazing. It's a small city car that looks stylish, sporty and futuristic.
The concept model we saw represented the majority of what the production version should be, so it gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect.
It has a 166 kW electric motor and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 6.9 seconds.
The battery pack capacity was not disclosed but the driving range will be up to 440 km (273 miles).
Some notable features about the Cupra UrbanRebel are doors without conventional handles, and soft-close, frameless windows.
Inside, there are recycled polymers and bio-based materials, a large curved infotainment screen, sophisticated and unique looking instrument cluster - along with game controller-like buttons on the steering wheel.
Wayne Griffith added: “The UrbanRebel is more than just a car to CUPRA. This is the model that will democratise urban electric mobility. Emotional, sexy, and fun to drive and at the same time accessible.
"We prove that electric cars don’t have to be boring. This will be the next generation’s entry into our range.”
