Cost of living crisis: Household appliance price comparison guide

As the cost of living crisis impacts households across Northern Ireland, people have been analysing their daily habits in order to see where they may be able to save a bit of money.

Every appliance that is used in a household will have its costs with regards to energy usage, with some costing more than others and people have been looking for ways to cut these costs by using different ones, such as the use of a slow cooker for meals instead of a standard oven.

While there are some appliances that need to be running at all times, such as a fridge or freezer, cutting back on the use of others or using more energy efficient options can be a way to reduce weekly expenditure.

The Consumer Council has created a price guide for some of the most common household appliances, based on the current regulated Power NI unit rate of 30.18p, in order to help people understand how the use of certain appliances could be impacting their finances.
