Corrie spoilers: Killer Stephen Reid impersonates murdered Leo but it backfires

Coronation Street's Stephen Reid could find himself in hot water next week - when he impersonates Leo Thompkins.

Killer Stephen - played by Todd Boyce - brutally murdered Leo in a horrific scenes airing recently when he pushed him off the balcony after Leo threatened to tell his mother Audrey Roberts about his sick plans for her.

Stephen, struggling with debt, had planned to fleece his mum of all her savings in a bid to pay off his own debtors.

In next week's episodes, as the drama continues to surround Leo's "disappearance", his worried father Teddy and ex-partner Jenny are keen to find him. The pair head to the bistro to make plans on how they can locate him.

As the talk continues, Stephen panics and in his desperation to stop them from trying to track down Leo, he decides to impersonate him and texts them from Leo's phone, warning them to stay away.

Stephen takes a photo of them together and sends a message to Teddy, pretending to be from Leo, and warning him not to contact him again.

As part of the premise, he tells him that a mate saw them and thought he'd be interested to know.

Gabrielle is becoming increasingly impatient with Stephen (ITV)

However, his plan backfires and Teddy, even more worried for Leo now, vows to head to Canada to speak to Leo face to face. What has Stephen got planned next to ensure he doesn't find out the truth?

Elsewhere, pressure mounts on Stephen as Gabrielle demands her money from him. Stephen does his best to try and delay things, but Gabrielle insists she hasn't got the time to waste and urges him to cough up the cash.

Last month, Stephen's problems got even worse as his estranged wife appeared on the Cobbles and issued him a threat as she quizzed him on where he had got to: "How could you just up and leave? Without even a note. Do you know how worried I was?"

Stephen then added: "I'm sorry, it was a difficult time for me," as Gabrielle revealed the truth of what he had done. "You've embezzled 200,000 euros of my company's money," as Stephen tried to defend his actions.

"It was just a loan for my business; everything was in such a mess," he said, before she issued a stark warning: "I want my money. The only reason I didn't go to the police is because you'd have no chance of paying me back from behind bars."
