Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has revealed his new co-star Dave the dog was “shaking”, when it came to shooting his first scenes on the BBC soap.
Dave was brought in to replace the original David the Dog recently, actor Jack announced on TikTok.
The David Platt actor confirmed the news and showed off the new pooch to fans in a video on his first day on set.
Now, speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Jack confessed his new co-star was a complete professional, but he did end up shaking during his first day of filming for the show.
Jack told us the pooch was “very good” and well behaved, but was a little scared in his first scenes.
He explained: “He’s good, he’s only done one day so far and he was very nervous and shaking, but he’s alright.
“He’s well behaved! He sits when he should and he moves when he should, so that is all that matters.
“He’s very good, he’s not a schnauzer. A few people were saying it’s a different breed, but no it’s not a different breed, he’s just had his hair cut to look like it! He’s very good.”
David the dog, owned by David Platt, will return to screens in the coming weeks with his new look.
Viewers will recall that David was the dog of a character called Mrs Moss, who was a client at Audrey’s salon.
Mrs Moss loved human David, so much so she named her little dog after him - before leaving him to David in her will when she died.
The character passed away in 2017, and the pup has been with the Platts ever since.
Actor Jack first introduced fans to the show’s new addition, Dave, earlier this month on Corrie’s TikTok page.
Cradling him and showing him off to followers, Jack confirmed the new dog was replacing the old actor in the role.
He said: "So this is David, the new David the dog. He is actually called David, or Dave. He’s the brand new one and he’s done his first day, two scenes, he’s very tired.
"He’s going to go home for some treats now. But he’s very good, very well behaved."
As he held on to the pooch, Jack was loving his new co-star and said: "Look at him, look at him!"
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
