Coronation Street's Adam Barlow turns to the drink as he struggles with Lydia's continued torment.
Adam - played by Sam Robertson - has been finding it difficult to cope with Lydia's (Rebecca Ryan) decision to target him and see that his marriage to Sarah Barlow (Tina O'Brien) ends as part of her big elaborate plot.
And as he struggles to deal with what she's doing to him, spoilers for next week for the ITV soap reveal that Adam turns to alcohol to try and find solace, whilst Lydia ups the ante.
The plot has been ticking along for weeks now but is set to reach a head this week as Sarah fumes at Adam over his alleged affair, and Adam steps down from work as things heat up for him.
In next week's episodes, Adam is fuming for always being treated like the bad guy so he picks up a drink and flirts with a girl. Explaining how his wife died in a car crash, Daniel soon arrives to put things right after getting a text from Daisy.
He tells the girl that Adam's wife is still very much alive - as he heads out to town to try and drown his sorrows even more.
On Friday, Daniel advises him to speak to Sarah, but when he heads over - and is clearly still hungover - Sarah is less than impressed and tells him to get out.
Out on the cobbles, he spots Lydia and storms over to her, determined to prove that she is a liar.
It comes after Lydia revealed the true reason why she's got her heart set on bringing Adam down, after something happened between the pair in the past.
As he demanded answers to why she was doing it, she replied: "You know what this is Adam? Payback. Everything you deserve and more," as she told him: "Cast your mind back Mr Memory."
Lydia looked furious as Adam said they weren't serious and had only dated for a few months, before vowing to destroy him.
"Is that really all you think happened?" she quizzed as Adam asked her to "tell him what went down". She fumed back: "You messed up my life, you dismantled me bit by bit. I'll tell you what I am gonna do, Adam.
"I'm gonna dismantle your life like you dismantled mine, piece by piece and there is nothing you can do about it."
