Columbia University has announced changes to its final exam procedures in response to current circumstances. The university will be conducting final exams fully remote for any exams on the main campus, while final exams at the Medical Center and Manhattanville campus will proceed as scheduled.
The Morningside Heights campus, which has been restricted to only students living in dorms due to recent events, will not host any final exams. The New York Police Department has cleared protestors from the area.
For undergraduate programs, faculty are exploring various options to adapt to the situation. These options include making final exams optional, adjusting grading policies, or canceling final exams altogether.
The final exam period is set to begin this Friday. Any undergraduate exams scheduled for Friday will be rescheduled for the following Friday, May 10. Final papers or projects due this week will have their deadlines extended to after Monday, May 6.
Furthermore, Columbia has extended the deadline for the submission of grades for graduating students from May 10 to May 13. However, these scheduling changes do not apply to all graduate programs.
