The new Arcade1Up Marvel Super Heroes machine is available to pre-order today. Along with the standard cabinet, a limited run of Collectors Edition Marvel Super Heroes versions will come with light-up marquee, stereo sound, and high-end Sanwa buttons and Joysticks.
The Marvel Super Heroes cabinet stands at just under 4ft. Previous games have included single-player Space Invaders and Galaga, two-player Final Fight, Street Fighter II and three-player Rampage. Along with the Marvel Super Heroes cabinet, there will also be the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Star Wars cabinets coming this year.
The Marvel Super Heroes machine offers three games:
- Marvel Super Heroes,
- X-Men Children of the Atom,
- The Punisher
“With the excitement around our recently announced Marvel cabinet, we wanted to provide our fans with something special to celebrate Marvel’s birthday,” said David McIntosh, Director of Marketing and Communications, Tastemakers. “We could not be happier with having a licensing partner like Marvel, which has been driving the world of pop-culture to new and exciting territories for the last 80 years.”
Speaking to McIntosh, he outlined other enhancements coming to its existing line of arcade machines. The next wave of machines will have new re-designed joystick using non-levered microswitches with smoother gates and hemispherical pivots. The spacing of components is also being adjusted and buttons redesigned with centered microswitches, precision plungers and cylinders to both increase smoothness and offer a quicker reset. The new units will also come with a protective cover for the control panel.
8000 Collectors Edition Marvel Super Heroes machines will be available today (24 July 10am EST) via www.arcade1up.com.
