A firefighter from Co Fermanagh has professed his love for the county on an upcoming episode of a hit dating show.
Logistics manager and firefighter Shane appears on Thursday night’s episode of RTE 2’s First Dates, where he meets Dubliner Margaret.
In their early exchanges teased in a trailer from the Irish broadcaster, Shane tells Margaret that Co Fermanagh is ‘the most beautiful county in Ireland with the most beautiful men in Ireland’.
Margaret revealed that she was looking for a man ‘in uniform’, and was pleasantly surprised to see the arrival of Shane.
Introducing himself on the show which matches couples on a blind date, Shane said he was ‘born with the unnatural ability of talking s****’.
“I have exhausted every other avenue in the search for true love,” he adds.
“I’ve made that many bad judgements myself, letting some stranger do it for me can be no worse than what I’ve done.
Confidently Shane tells Margaret, ‘this is the last first date me and you is ever going on’ before speaking about their prospective wedding day.
Crumlin girl Margaret said she was looking for a fairly typical type before her date arrived
“Well, I want tall, dark and handsome. But realistically, I just want to find a best friend that I fancy the pants off,” she said.
"I'm easy to get on with, so I've no doubt I'll get on with whoever is on the date.”
To see how Shane got on with his Co Fermanagh charm, the episode of First Dates airs on RTE 2 on Thursday 10 February at 9.30pm.
