Christmas can be a pricey time thanks to all the expenses that come with the festive season - but if you're looking to earn some extra money then there are plenty of jobs on offer in Liverpool at the moment. Whether you are looking to use the cash to buy gifts or to keep you topped up over the holiday season, there are countless opportunities.

From retail work to even a vacancy for a grotto Santa, there are plenty of jobs you can apply for this Christmas. We have rounded up just some of the jobs and employment opportunities you can apply for.

John Lewis

John Lewis and partner brand Waitrose are looking to hire thousands of temporary staff to work in their stores over the busy festive period.

The Mirror reports John Lewis and Partners are looking for 10,000 new temporary staff members across the country to work in their stores over Christmas, including in the flagship store in Liverpool ONE. Waitrose, owned by John Lewis, is also looking for staff over the period, as are the companies' distribution networks.

The positions going include seasonal roles, as well as temporary roles with some permanent positions advertised also.

Anyone looking to apply for the positions - which include sales assistants and catering assistants - at John Lewis or Waitrose can register their interest at jlpjobs.com/Christmas.

They are also looking for around 4,000 staff to work in their supply chain and in their warehouses over the festive period. More information can be found here for anyone interested.

Urban Outfitters

The fashion retailer is hiring for a temporary sales associate for Christmas.

The job advert states previous experience in retail is desirable, but not a must. The candidate should also have an awareness of the Urban Outfitters brand and its appeal to the local market and have strong communication skills.

People will work on the shop floor and help with display, stock and customer service.

Foot Asylum

The Edge Lane shoe store is also looking for a temporary sales assistant for the festive season.

The company said you will be involved in "creating a first-class shopping experience for our customer through your exceptional service, attitude and behaviours." The job advert said the candidate must have strong verbal and written skills, able to work in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for fashion retail and the company's "ethos".

If successful, the temporary contract will start straight away and run until the January 7, 2023.

Dobbie Garden Centre

Dobbies Garden Centre in Liverpool is looking to hire its perfect Santa for its grotto.

The job advert said: The excitement and theatre of Christmas is wonderful for children. It's an exciting and captivating time of year and at the heart of the experience is Santa and his trusted elves. We would like to hear from those who love the spirit of Christmas to wear the special red suit, and deliver the magic of Christmas to our customers of all ages.

"As Santa, and alongside your team of elves, you will be responsible for creating memorable visits by talking to children within one of our magical grottos. In addition Santa will meet with family groups at our breakfast and team events in our restaurants.

"From the moment you step into the suit you will become Santa himself. From regaling stories from the North Pole and asking children about their Christmas list, you'll have the confidence to spread happiness and fulfil the imagination of children of all ages.

"You must be confident, kind and have a jolly nature, along with the ability to say "Ho, Ho, Ho" with plenty of enthusiasm. You must be able to engage with and build rapport with people of all ages."

The contract will be between eight and 30 hours a week.
