Chelsea sale: Alan Shearer and Thomas Tuchel in agreement on what needs to happen next

Alan Shearer has agreed with Thomas Tuchel on what needs to happen next at Chelsea as the battle for ownership at Stamford Bridge rumbles on following sanctions placed against Roman Abramovich.

Final bids had to be submitted by Friday at 9pm with as many as 10 separate offers reportedly made for the Blues. Saudi Media and two consortiums led by billionaires Todd Boehly and Nick Candy respectively are three of the offers to have been confirmed but who will ultimately win the race appears to be no closer.

Despite being set to receive no money from the sale, Abramovich is set to have the final say on the successful bid. After Chelsea beat Middlesbrough to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday, manager Thomas Tuchel made it clear that he wanted the situation sorted quickly.

"I hope the process will go through as soon as possible to clear the situation," he told the BBC in his post-match interview. "To give everybody a prospect of what it’s like after and to calm the situation down. Give everybody an outlook to the nearer future. To calm things down to know who we are dealing with and the situation we are dealing with.

"This is what we hope for. I think things will be pushed through as fast as possible and maybe we will see ourselves in a bit of a calmer situation."

As a result of the sanctions placed on Roman Abramovich, Chelsea fans were unable to buy tickets to the clash at the Riverside, but Tuchel was impressed with how his players handled the situation, saying: "I’m very happy and very impressed. We accepted the situation because we did not cause it.

"Nothing we can do will change the situation and it is not in our hands. What is in our hands is to stay focused and to set an example because I think, many people at Chelsea and who work at Chelsea who are not in the spotlight are more concerned than us and more worried about the situation about what is going on and what will happen."

Alan Shearer was in agreement with Tuchel on the off-field matters currently engulfing the Blues, saying in the BBC Studio: "I think for the football club, as a whole, the sooner that sale happens, the better. They can also then concentrate on what they do best which is playing football, and then get back to running the football club."
