Cheap tickets for Manchester panto, The Mousetrap and The Lion King this December

If you’re looking for a festive trip out this December, Manchester’s wonderful theatres are a great place to head for a night out that’s fun for all the family. And you can get tickets from as little as £13 for shows like The Lion King, The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan, and The Mousetrap.

Throughout December, The Lion King continues its mammoth run at Manchester’s Palace Theatre. Originally the production of the Disney classic was to run from October 27 to February 19, but it will remain in the city centre until March 11 , due to ‘phenomenal demand’.

As well as being a pretty cheap night out, with tickets for The Lion King available from £20 , they’ll also make a superb Christmas present for those who have been desperate to witness the visual masterpiece.

Our reviewer said: “This beautifully reimagined on stage production of a beloved animated classic is a powerful, emotive and completely unique show that I’ll remember forever. It’s visually spectacular, completely immersive and absolutely breathtaking. It truly is the King of Musicals, and the roars from the audience were proof enough that it’s not one to be missed.”

This week, Manchester’s Opera House is playing host to The Mousetrap, but if you want to catch the Agatha Christie classic, you’ll have to hurry, because it’s only here until Saturday, December 3.

Our reviewer wrote: “For to see The Mousetrap comes with a solemn responsibility, as all audiences are traditionally asked by the cast at the end of the play: Keep the twist ending a secret.

“Even if you haven't seen it, you've sort-of have. But seeing it for yourself in its gorgeous original form is a complete (and essential) joy.”

From then on, Jason Manford and Ben Nickless will be starring in The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan until the end of the month, making for the ultimate Christmassy day out - a festive tradition for many, too.

Produced by Crossroads Pantomimes, the brand new panto will feature spectacular special effects, live music, beautiful costumes, and stunning sets - as well as some star power.

Salford-born Jason, 41, tells the MEN: "It's my first time in panto but obviously I've seen loads of them before. I'm nervous but I'm excited about it and I think it's going to be a good laugh.

"I've got six children, so there's a range of opinions from them about me being in panto. My four year old and seven year old are absolutely delighted, can't believe their luck, and my 10 year old can't wait either.

"But then my 11 and 13 year old daughters are like "oh no"." Jason jokes: "So I've said I'll do the school run in my outfit. Maybe we'll just stand outside the school gates in our full wardrobe."

The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan is at the Opera House from December 10 to 31, with tickets priced from £13 . You can pick up your tickets to the festive production here .
