ESPN+ revealed to For The Win this week that it’s set to launch its first-ever NBA-specific show on Wednesday when it debuts “NBA Crosscourt,” hosted by Cassidy Hubbarth and Rosalyn Gold-Onwude.
Twice a week, the all-new studio show will tackle a range of NBA topics, including highlights and interviews, as various NBA analysts and reporters from around the network join in to contribute.
“How do we separate this show from all of the great coverage that we already have?” asked Mike Foss, Vice President of Digital Production at ESPN (and former Managing Editor of FTW). “The answer is: Ros and Cass have infused it with this really amazing balance of high IQ basketball and also shaping for an audience that consumes in a very new and trend-driven way.”
For Hubbarth, her position as host isn’t foreign. She’s enjoyed success hosting ESPN’s Hoop Streams and ESPN+’s SneakerCenter. Meanwhile, Onwude co-hosted the pregame and halftime show during the 2022 NBA Finals and has experience guest-hosting ESPN’s popular NBA Today.
The goal? To capture the NBA culture that fans live and talk about every day.
“What we’re aiming to do is capture the culture of discussing the NBA,” said Hubbarth. “We’re just here to kind of have fun and talk about the league and what makes it special.”
“We have a lot of confidence in doing an NBA show together, this is the world we’ve lived in and been a part of for years and years,” said Gold-Onwude. “Trends, culture, and the comments section, I think that’s the intersection of what you’re gonna get on this show.”
NBA Crosscourt will air on ESPN+ on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the season. You’ll also be able to watch sneak peaks and clips via YouTube.
