A 25-year-old Canberra man is behind bars after being charged with attempted murder over a brawl that saw a man stabbed at the Kingston Foreshore last weekend.
Hayden Todkill appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court today after he was arrested and extradited from Nowra in New South Wales.
Police have been looking for him since the incident on Saturday, March 5, in which a man was stabbed multiple times.
The victim was treated at the scene and later taken to hospital.
Police said the stabbing took place after an altercation that involved a number of people on the Kingston Foreshore, in Canberra's inner south.
Mr Todkill's lawyer told the court he would plead not guilty to attempted murder and a further charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm.
But today he did not apply for bail, and is set to remain in custody until his next appearance in early May.
Prosecutors told the court they needed time to sort through a large amount of vision of the incident to prepare their case.
But Special Magistrate Jane Campbell said she would only allow a little extra time, because Mr Todkill was in custody.
