Bros singer Matt Goss has said he was kicked off an online dating site for impersonating... Matt Goss. The 80s legend said he was too embarrassed to prove that he was actually himself.
He was speaking to Nihal Arthanayake on BBC Radio 5 Live on Thursday afternoon about his new album, The Beautiful Unknown when the subject of his love life came up. The 53-year-old singer said he is in a relationship, but recalled an experience of online dating a while ago.
Nihal had asked him if he had to 'verify' himself while online dating because he was famous. The singer did not say what site it was, but said it wasn't Tinder.
He said: "The funny thing is I was on a dating site.... quite some time ago. And I got kicked off because they said 'we don't think that Matt Goss would appreciate you imitating him'.
"And I'm like, well.... I was too embarrassed to say, 'no, it's me', it's actually me, I can show you my stats, a naked picture, anything you need really..."
He said he wondered what the site needed from him to prove he was who he said he was, adding: ""I didn't have the guts to say it's really me, I'm kind of desperate and I'm trying to find someone. So I took it on the chin and got kicked off a dating site."
Matt Goss was in Bros along with his brother Luke. They had a string of hits, including When Will I Be Famous.
